‘Beautiful story about a non-human but human-like AI’

Old, rusty, heavy, industrial iron door.4.5 stars – Samantha Sabovitch

This is a quite, beautiful story about a sentient machine that tries to break free of what it was made to be to become something more. It’s a bit of a mystery: What happened before? What are these clues trying to tell it? Who left them? But it’s mostly just a story about a creature that you’ll fall in love with.

I have such a soft spot for books about non-humanoids. Mostly that means aliens, but in this instance, this works. The protagonist is fragile, strong, childlike, curious, and most of all, loveable.

I highly recommend this book.
